Address Not Found? What to Do
A new address is missing from online forms until the Postal Service adds it, which its own help page says takes 5 to 7 business days after your city or county assigns the address.
Who gives your home its address
Your city or county assigns the street number and street name. The Postal Service then adds it to its delivery list, and checkout and delivery sites copy that list later.
What to do now
- Ask your local post office whether your address is in its system yet.
- At a checkout, use the ZIP code of the street from the town page, and add a note with your full address.
- If the address is still missing after two weeks, ask the post office about adding it.
Why our street lookup may miss it
Our lookup uses the Census Bureau's street files, updated once a year. A street built since then is not in it yet.
